Every year, more than 3,000 women and their children seek domestic violence services through Laurel House. Laurel House also provides training to thousands of students, medical professionals, law enforcement officers and community members. Laurel House is a comprehensive domestic violence agency serving individuals, families and communities throughout Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The agency’s name was selected because of the beauty of the laurel, Pennsylvania’s state flower. It represents a victory for people who have taken the courageous first step of reaching out to Laurel House in their efforts to build a violence-free life for themselves and their children.
Here at Jarrettown UMC, faithful volunteers help provide for the needs of the women and children at Laurel House by collecting donations. The needs are great and often gift cards are easiest. Suggested are Gas, Grocery, Walmart, Target, Visa, etc. Also needed for women/children: underwear, socks, and any OTC cold medicines. Hand soaps and sanitizers, personal items for women, paper products. They also collect old cell phones and chargers.
