Bread Drop Sandwiches & Snack Bag Projects

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

All JUMC friends are invited to participate in a program to feed the hungry called “Bread Drop” (previously known as “Welcome Bread”). Local groups of people from various churches are joining forces to help with this on-going project. We invite you to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The sandwiches will need to be dropped off at church weekly between Monday thru Tuesday by 1 pm. Coolers will be available outside of the office entrance.

This project is for you to do at home and drop off prepared sandwiches – you can use your own supplies, or contact Jean for donated supplies. Please make the PB & J generous. We suggest spreading peanut butter on both sides to keep them from getting soggy, and then place in Ziplock bags.  Don’t cut sandwiches in half – they hold up better – to transport, bagged sandwiches can be placed back into the bread bag as shown in the picture.

Snack Bags

If you aren’t into making sandwiches, they appreciate snack bag packs as well. We sometimes have supplies available but we always encourage people to purchase a variety of snacks and make snack bags of their own following the guidelines. To make up your own individual snack bags – in a Ziploc bag, five items total and should have a mix of sugary and savory items. Such as: fruit snacks, mini chocolates, raisins, chewy granola bars, cookies, potato chips, peanut butter crackers, cheese crackers, mini Slim Jims
